The roots of Disco Scratch

Just had to post this up, the legend that is Fred Harris talking about computer music in 1985 and demonstrating his def skills on the Spectrum (seriously, this guy had soul! Check his Mantronix style drum pattern!) This really is where I was at back then. I started with pause button mixes but tried to use the spectrum for music (I am a die hard Spectrum lover, poke your Commodore 64 where the sun don’t shine). I never had the Specdrum, but so wanted one, it was mind boggling!
Just sit back & enjoy!

Really interesting stuff, Steve.
I was a Spectrum kid way back when as well although used to get a little envious of the nice colour range of Commodore 64′s.
Mainly used mine for gaming and a little BASIC programming. I remember typing in all those long cheats and POKES from CRASH magazine and then the damn game would decide not to load. And the girl who edited the cheats section in the mag was a bit of a hottie IIRC – well to my 13-year old mind anyway.
Fred’s got rhythm, hasn’t he?! I nver heard of SpecDrum but it sounds pretty good esp. as I only ever used to get glitchy drum sounds while playing Rambo First Blood or something.
Nice one, buddy.
